Press Release: Augmented Reality Foto Booth
Have You Ever Walked Into an Augmented Reality Foto Booth?
NYC, USA, November 11, 2014
The release of Kinect 2 three months ago gave Foto Master, a manufacturer of digital interactive entertainment technology, the tools it needed to create an exciting new product. Foto Master founders Boaz Telem and Ron Malkin are the first to develop a product using Kinect 2 technology called Augmented Reality Foto Booth, a photo booth that takes social interaction and party favor creation up a notch.
The AR Foto Booth provides a fuller, more engaging way to take photos. Guests see themselves against a background, wearing virtual 3D props. The props move with them in real time. At the end of the experience, guests receive a clear photo of themselves inside the AR environment, something that was not possible with Kinect 1.
Boaz explains:
“With Kinect 1, the depth sensor and face recognition algorithms couldn’t produce a high-resolution image. Now, Kinect 2 offers image quality equal to an HD webcam or better. This allowed us to use the other Kinect sensors to position 3D elements accurately on users who interact with them in real time, resulting in the booth we always dreamed of.
The AR Foto Booth uses the Kinect 2 1080p camera with facial recognition capabilities. It combines this with a new green screen removal algorithm and a 3D engine developed by Foto Master, allowing custom virtual props to appear on users in real time.”
The result is an experience guests won’t forget and a party favor they can share with friends.
How the Augmented Reality Foto Booth Works
Interacting with the booth is easy:
- Guests stand in front of the monitor.
- Virtual 3D props appear on them, and they can interact with the props on screen.
- Guests switch between different 3D props by raising their right hand above their head.
- Guests pull down the virtual gesture slider to take their photo. Three, two, one, snap!
- The augmented reality photo is printed and handed to the guests. It can also be emailed or shared on social networks.
The AR Foto Booth also offers personalized branding options, allowing businesses to introduce customized concepts using 3D shapes.
Who Can Use It?
Foto Master’s customers can use the Augmented Reality Foto Booth at private events, conventions, family entertainment centers, interactive museums, theme parks, hotels, resorts, and retail stores.
