You are buying a business in a box.
A booth only earns if you can sell it, run it and fix it at 9 p.m. on a Saturday. So here is what comes with it:
- The hardwareThe booth, a one-year warranty and, on most models, a transport case.
- The softwareA one-year license, plus Foto Master Cloud AI on the Basic plan.
- 24/7 supportA full year included, for the night something goes wrong.
- Marketing materialsPhotos, videos and hardware branding to sell with from day one.
- TrainingA 60-minute personal online session, plus guides and videos.
- A shot at new leadsOn most models, our Lead Distribution Platform enters you in draws for local rental inquiries. Each lead goes to one owner.
What is not in the box: your clients. You bring the market knowledge, the relationships and the follow-through. So alongside “How much does it cost?” ask:
“What business can I build with it, and what will that business leave me at the end of the year?”
“Had an emergency at an event where my printer stopped working. I had no time to try to figure it out as it was an award ceremony. I called support and they fixed my issue... The annual membership is worth it.”

Real results from FMX software and Draw Me Bot. Each one is a different offer for your proposal.
What will appear on your proposal?
“Photo booth rental” gets compared on price. “A robot that draws every guest on real paper” or “your own magazine cover” is much harder to shop around. A client can picture it, and that is what they pay for.
Ask yourself: could you build one offer for weddings, one for corporate events and one for the holidays?
Who do you want booking you?
A luxury wedding, a school celebration and a corporate exhibition expect very different things. Your booth becomes part of how the event looks, and it stars in the photos you use to win the next client.
Ask yourself: will it look right in the venues you want, and can you transport and install it efficiently?
Can you say yes to the unusual request?
Clients rarely ask about software. They ask: “Can it match our campaign?” “Can guests choose between different looks?” “Can we add a survey and send the results digitally?”
FMX workflow and layout builders, interactive choices, surveys and sharing give you more ways to say yes, and you can now describe a change and let AI update the workflow. Features depend on your device, services and configuration.
Try this: bring a real client request to your demo and ask to see it built.
What can you confidently charge?
Your rate has to cover preparation, travel, setup, staffing, consumables, support and your own time. Confidence comes from knowing what competitors offer, what venues expect and what each kind of event can spend.

One investment. Different possibilities.
The purchase price cannot tell you what a booth will earn. Your bookings and your selling price can.
Annual revenue. Illustrative example. Actual results vary. These figures are revenue, not profit or promised results.
The bigger numbers take real demand, open dates, steady sales work and the capacity to deliver. Here is what two owners told us on camera:

“We increased our revenue by $100,000 in our first year.”Dawn Takacs, Elite Casino Events

“We have gotten many times our investment on these great booths.”Matt Conta, SoundWave DJ and Photo
Individual experiences. Your results depend on your market, pricing and effort.
Running a fixed location? The math is different.
20 paid sessions a day at $5, over 250 operating days, is $25,000 a year before expenses. Foot traffic, venue fees and operating costs decide what remains. Illustrative example. Actual results vary.
Our operator pricing guide suggests $2 to $5 a session in shopping malls, $4 to $8 in hotels and resorts, and $1 to $3 more for AI sessions. In very busy spots a lower price can earn more: 100 sessions at $2 brings in $200 a day, while 30 sessions at $5 brings in $150. Explore photo booths for retail.
How many bookings cover the equipment cost?
Here is an illustrative starting scenario: charge $850 per booking and spend $250 on direct delivery costs. The $600 difference is available toward the equipment. The $250 is an assumption to replace with your own figure, including staff, travel, consumables and your working time. It is not an industry average.
$5,950
$7,950
$9,950
$10,950
At four bookings a month, the equipment-only examples above take roughly 2.5 to 4.8 months. Other startup costs, overhead, renewals and taxes affect the full business return. The calculator below separates equipment recovery from yearly cash flow.
Illustrative example. Actual results vary.
Now run your own numbers
Use your own figures. The $850 booking price and $250 direct cost are illustrative starting values. Include your working time in the booking cost or the yearly costs below.
The zero-dollar fields are placeholders. Add your real costs before using the yearly result.
This headline covers the equipment and startup costs only. It excludes recurring running costs; the yearly table includes the costs you enter.
| Year 1 | Year 2 | |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue (48 × $850) | $40,800 | $40,800 |
| Direct booking costs | −$12,000 | −$12,000 |
| Other yearly costs | $0 | $0 |
| Equipment and startup costs | −$9,950 | $0 |
| Software licenses | Included | −$396 |
| Support | Included | −$324 |
| Cloud plan | Basic included | −$468 |
| Cash left after selected costs | $18,850 | $27,612 |
Illustrative cash flow, not take-home profit. Tax, financing, depreciation and equipment replacement are excluded. Include AI usage and all other applicable costs in your figures. Year two uses current software prices and the renewal options selected above.
This is a fixed example if the interactive controls are unavailable.
How to use these numbers
Run it three ways: conservative, expected and ambitious. Allow for quiet months and time to get established, and count your own hours. Financing and taxes also affect what you take home.
Annual revenue = paid bookings × average booking value
Annual operating profit = revenue − delivery costs − overhead − equipment depreciation
Equipment payback happens when accumulated cash after operating expenses covers your initial investment.
A lower price can have a higher cost.
Retro Mirror Booth and Mirror Air Booth are exactly $2,000 apart in both packages. In the example above, $600 remains after direct costs, so four extra bookings cover that price gap. Both use FMX: the choice is about the design and experience your market will pay for. Suppose your forecast is that the larger mirror could win one extra booking a month:
12 × $850
12 × $250
purchase price
year one
Illustrative example. Actual results vary.
If your clients love a vintage look, the lower price may be the better business. Pay more when the extra capability earns its place. Save when the lower-cost booth delivers what your customers want.

Rent for the occasion.
Renting usually makes sense when you need an experience for one event.
Buy for the business.
Buying makes sense when you plan to sell that experience repeatedly, add it to an event business or run it at a suitable location.
Photo booth cost FAQ
How much does a photo booth cost per month to run?
Your first year of the listed software and support comes with the booth. After that, FMX for Windows is $33/month per device. Draw Me Bot uses a $59 DMBot license and a $32 FMX for iPad license, totaling $91/month. Optional support is $27/month, and Basic Cloud is $39/month per company. These monthly equivalents are billed annually. Prints, AI usage, staff, travel and other running costs are separate.
Do I need to buy a separate printer?
Not with most Turn Key packages: the DNP printer and a 1,400-print media set are included. Bring Your Own packages leave the printer to you, which suits owners who already have compatible equipment. Send us your camera, computer and printer models and we can check them. Draw Me Bot does not need a printer at all. It draws.
How long does it take to get my money back?
It depends on what remains after your costs. If $600 per booking is available toward a $9,950 Mirror Air Turn Key package, 17 bookings cover that equipment price. That equipment-only example excludes additional startup costs and recurring overhead. Include your own time and all business expenses when estimating the full return. Illustrative example. Actual results vary.
What is not included in the booth price?
Bring Your Own packages omit the equipment identified in their package lists, such as the computer, tablet, camera or printer. Budget for shipping shown at checkout and operating costs such as staff, travel, storage, insurance, consumables and renewals. Check the included first-year services and starter supplies before adding them again to your budget.
Is a photo booth business profitable?
It can be, if your bookings and price leave enough after delivery costs, overhead and your own time. One booth can serve many events a year, so demand in your market and the price you can hold matter most. Build a conservative scenario first, then test it with the calculator above.
Is it cheaper to buy or rent a photo booth?
For a single event, renting is usually cheaper. If you plan to sell the experience repeatedly, buying usually makes more sense, because the booth keeps working after it has paid for itself.
Build the business behind the booth.
The best photo booth for your business fits your customers, supports experiences you can sell and leaves a worthwhile profit after the work is done.
